Artist
Jonas Vanderbeke

Jonas Vanderbeke is a visual artist from Ghent. His painting practice grows from a continuous exchange between digital collages and canvas. Digital precision deliberately meets human imperfection.
His paintings play with colour and form. Images are revealed and concealed at the same time; familiar symbols lose their original meaning and appear in new, often enigmatic combinations. He draws inspiration from both nineteenth-century literature, including Joris-Karl Huysmans, and contemporary pop music.
Vanderbeke earned a bachelor’s degree in Painting, with minors in Printmaking and Textile Design, and a master’s degree in Visual Arts at KASK Ghent. He then completed the art teacher training programme there.
In 2025, he presented three solo exhibitions in Ghent: Repositioning the Flowers at BLANCO/NUCLEO, Spring at Elmo and Dark Paradise at the Phenixbeluikhuis with DAVID.
